THE MATURE NEVER FAIL

In the this epistle, Peter is trying to pull them back into line. He’s exhorting them and reminding them of what to do to stand strong in faith and be fruitful. Notice right from the start that Peter is talking to believers. He makes this clear by saying “. . . to them that have obtained like precious faith with us . . . “(2 Peter 1:1). Every believer has been given the measure of faith (Rom. 1:23). The Bible tells us many things that we are to do with that measure of faith. we are to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). We’re to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12). It also says that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6). Too many people walk around declaring, “Im a faith person,” but their lives are a mess. Yes, we are to be people of faith, but that does not mean we are to be people of foolishness, presumption or stupidity. There have been many things done in the name of faith that have nothing whatsoever to do with faith. if we’d all use a little more common sense, mistakes that bring reproach to the Gospel wouldn’t be made. Peter goes on to say, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (Peter 1:2). This verse tells us that our God is the God of abundance. He is El Shaddai. He wants us to have more than just a little bit of grace and peace, more than just enough to barely get by. He wants to give us multiplied grace and peace.

CHANGE IS NOT CHANGE UNTIL YOU CHANGE
When Peter wrote this passage. He knew he was facing martyrdom soon. He says, "Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has shewed me. Moreover I will endeavour that you may be able after my deceases to have these things always in remembrance" (2 Peter 1:14).  Even though he knew death was before him, Peter was not negative or depressed. He was very positive and joyful in writing to the church. However, he was also very concern about them. A lot of carnality had evidently crept into the lives of the believers. And the Church at that time was under attack from all kinds of crazy doctrines from false teachers. Sounds a lot like the Church today, doesn’t it? The believers then were dwelling on minor issues that didn’t amount to a whole lot. They had digressed from the main point of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some were being led into heresy.

IF YOU CAN'T BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'LL BE HAPPY IF YOU HAVE MORE
Throughout the Church today, there seems to be a universal problem. Somewhere along the line, the spiritual growth of most Christians has become underdeveloped. Sad to say, there are countless numbers of believers who are living weak, defeated, anaemic lives. Why is this? More importantly, is there an answer to this problem? If there is, we need to know it. I believe the Apostle Peter gave us the solution in his second letter to the Church. 2 Peter 1:1-11 – Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtain like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

THE DESIGN OF THE HUMAN MIND

Jeremiah 17:10 – “I the Lord search the heart and examine
the mind.”
There are so many things God created using his infinite imagination
and ingenuity. God did this in order to display the vastness and depth
of his mind. Amongst all God’s creations, man stands far above the
rest. God created you to be like him and represent him to all the other
creatures. In Psalm 82:6 he even goes on to say, ‘you are gods’.
What makes man God’s most superior creation is not just the same
image and likeness between God and man, but also because God has
endowed man with the most superior mind, which stands matchless
against the minds of all creatures in the universe.

Confessions of a Saved Person - The day I saw Jesus

In this article I wish to share with you how during my tough times I spoke to God not even knowing whether He will hear me or not, He responded in the most Extraordinary way.
The year was 2005 and I had been challenged by many sorts of hardships and my physical health was failing faster than I could handle it. I must confess that even though I was already Pastoring the second largest Church in Soweto I had reached a point in my life where I was ready to give up on everything because I was asking myself if It was really worth it to continue as if all was well with me. On Sundays I used take an overdose of all medicines I had just so I can make it through the Church service.

How I learnt to trust in God - Part 1

If you’re ever going to trust in God make sure that you do it right first time. This will help you a lot in tackling all future challenges. Faith in God or believing in God, whichever way you chose to look at it must always be done right or else it does not work. When you do this, the very first thing you realize is how much you have been trusting in other things that took away all your ability to trust in the unseen God. First let me give you a background of where I come from then you will better understand these articles. In one of my previous posts I related how I belonged to a ‘gangster’ like group that gave me so much security that they had literally become my fortress in the township. During that era in the late seventies there were quite a lot of those both formal and informal criminal groups that you could not live without, that is if you really meant business with the township life. Some were simply for those needing to ‘just’ belong to a group and others were for those who were ‘more serious’ about belonging.

Confessions Of a changed Person - Failure Is Just An Option - Part 2

One thing I need to mention before continuing today is that when tough times come upon us the first thing we naturally do is to panic. And here I'm using the simple word; panic but which in reality is more on the demonic side of life than we care to believe. There were times in those days when I would be overcome by more than just what I call "human care". I'm referring to those moments when you unconsciously do that inner stock taking not because you are worried but simply trying to put two and two together. Then all of a sudden this demonic spirit engulfs you up to a point where you just want to die and get out of your challenges. The second thing I wish to mention as a drawback to your progress is a lack of insight.
